THE SMITHFIELD, HANLEY
“I worked with an excellent architect who understood what I wanted to achieve. He knew that I wanted to retain the main structure of the building and we worked together on the designs specifically for one bedroom apartments, which I thought worked well. Once we had finalised the designs the architect put the project out to tender which came back with varying prices…”

ARNI Architects were thrilled to be given the opportunity to be involved in the conversion of the old Smithfield pub into 9 high-end apartments.
Having met with Steve we understood the importance of maintaining as much of the buildings structural integrity as possible and ensured this was always at the forefront of our design when creating the concept. The large open spaces within the building, due to its original use as a pub, enabled us to create designs for spacious and quality apartments.
A further benefit of the Smithfield building was its dual frontage and numerous windows, allowing light to egress into a large portion of the building. This gave us an advantage when envisioning the transformation from pub to quality apartments. Enabling us to create spacious apartments with habitable rooms, taking full advantage of the abundance of daylight.
The final layout achieved within the building was one that utilised the original main existing structure, creating functional apartments that were finished to a high standard.
ARNI were able to play an integral part within conversion, from original design concepts through to assisting Steve in selecting the right professionals for the construction of the project (through an effective tender process).
Another success story for ARNI Architects!
